Biosafety Cabinet Class-2 A2

A Biosafety Cabinet Class 2 A2 (BSC 2 A2) is a type of Class II biosafety cabinet that provides personnel, product, and environmental protection.

A BSC 2 A2 draws in room air through a front opening and passes it through a HEPA filter to provide a sterile work environment. The air is then recirculated back into the cabinet or exhausted outside the building through a HEPA filter.

BSC 2 A2 cabinets have a minimum inflow velocity of 100 feet per minute, which creates a barrier to prevent the escape of hazardous materials. They are designed for use with low to moderate-risk biological agents, such as viruses, bacteria, and cell cultures.

In addition to the HEPA filters, BSC 2 A2 cabinets also have ultraviolet lamps installed within the work area to decontaminate surfaces and equipment. They also have an alarm system that alerts the operator when the cabinet is not functioning correctly or if the filters need to be changed
